I'm guessing they're price matching JB on this?
https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/logitech-g-powerplay-wire…
I'll also note that this should be compatible with the recently (paper) launched G309.
DrScavenger on 11/07/2024 - 13:07
Should we get greedy and wait for a possible 10% off weekend discount?
Namidairo on 11/07/2024 - 13:24

There was just one on past weekend, so I'm slightly doubtful?
Although I see Officeworks stock these too, so 5% is your baseline to beat. (~$94.05, unless they really want to go adding shipping for an Amazon AU PB where it's free shipping.)
Viper18 on 11/07/2024 - 16:30
Officeworks has already updated their price to match.

I am keen to get one, but why is it a game changer when you can just put the usb-c at night to charge the mouse and use it for another 3 days straight. Is it just the 2-3 seconds job plugging it to usb-c?

Never have to take the action to plug it in, or remember to plug it in….ever

Because one time you forget. Lots headache next time
I believe there are so many many products in the world is just for saving people few second..
BillyCool on 11/07/2024 - 13:00

Is it really a headache? You need to have a cable on your desk for Powerplay anyway. You just plug in and continue to use your mouse wired for 30mins until it's at 100%. I was debating getting this when I got a wireless mouse so that I don't have to deal with the inconvenience, but it's honestly not nearly as bad as I thought it would.
What I do want in a bigger Powerplay V2 that can wirelessly charge other devices too, so I can charge my phone and such, now that would be convenient.
MrMoo on 11/07/2024 - 13:08
+3
@BillyCool: The powerplays been out for almost a decade. Like 7 years I think. It's about time they upgraded it. Having not bought it for so long I can only double down and never buy it until a refresh comes.
jace88 on 11/07/2024 - 14:22
@BillyCool: I think the only other useful feature is it doubles as a USB receiver with low latency/high refresh rate for the mouse so if you wanted to use your mouse at your desktop at home, and then keep the dongle plugged into your laptop for on the go, then that works too… but with pretty much all their modern wireless gaming mice (except my damn G903) supporting multiple devices via dongle/Bluetooth, I feel this is becoming an even more niche use case. For me I ended up just using a smaller MX Anywhere when going out anyway since I didn't want to carry my G903 everywhere.
Vool on 11/07/2024 - 14:48
@BillyCool: It's really not a headache. The battery on my g502x lasts so long. When I bought the mouse I got a charging dock thing off Aliexpress, but I only stick the mouse on it once a week and even then I've never had a low power warning.
Fredfloresjr on 11/07/2024 - 13:38
Headache? When my logitech 502x is empty, I just put it straight to usb-c, go to toilet, make something to drink and adjust my computer chair and by that time, I already have 2-5 hours to play. Lol. Unbelievable. And imagine getting upvoted by 4 person who also bought it for that "convenience". Lol
bxpressiv on 11/07/2024 - 16:18
@Fredfloresjr: Ok, let's start with an objective fact- doing nothing is more convenient than something. Now, apply a subjective value proposition and you can ascertain whether you value this convenience or not. I can believe people finding it valuable or not. Lol
I pay hundreds of dollars for some Hue lights because I CBF turning a light switch on at night and off in the morning. I can comprehend people thinking this is stupid. It's really not that hard to understand people are different.

@bxpressiv: I agree with you. I pay for "never think about it again".
Gracey on 11/07/2024 - 13:03

@Fredfloresjr Yeah I've never seen the value in them either, at least for me personally.
My 903's last around 6 weeks with the RGB off, and that's 8-10 hours use per day. I couldn't justify a charging pad when they only need to be charged overnight 8-9 times a year.
Fredfloresjr on 11/07/2024 - 13:40
Exactly, and they are justifying "what if you forgot" and "No need to plug it anymore". World just gone mad aye. As if they are talking about 20-48 hours charging before it become useful again.
WayneOZ on 11/07/2024 - 13:13
What if I don't want to plug in the USB-C at night? Or what if I just simply forget it because of a busy day? Or I turned off PC then headed out for 3 days?
MrMoo on 11/07/2024 - 13:33
So can I ask if your phone runs out of battery because you forgot to charge it. What do you do?
smartazz104 on 11/07/2024 - 13:39
@MrMoo: The phone warns you when it's getting low, just like most modern wireless mice. I think products like this are for people who choose to ignore those warnings.
MrMoo on 11/07/2024 - 13:47
@smartazz104: True. My mouse starts flashing red on the LED when it gets low. My other mouse doesn't have an LED but I check it every 2 weeks because I Know it drains around then. I also think I get a popup from the software if I let it drain too low.
But to my point, if they choose to ignore it and it dies. Why can't they just plug a cable into their mouse and use it wired?
BillyCool on 11/07/2024 - 13:33
Then just plug the USB when you next use your mouse, the same USB you would have sitting on your desk anyway for Powerplay. It takes 5 seconds and in 30mins it's fully charged and ready to go wireless again. Is that inconvenience worth $100? That's up to you :D
Fredfloresjr on 11/07/2024 - 13:36
Oh boy, what a way to justify that $99 spending. Lol
swanny246 on 11/07/2024 - 13:55
@Fredfloresjr: People hate cables. They get in the way. Is that enough of a reason?
MrMoo on 11/07/2024 - 15:25
@swanny246: But the mouse mat has a cable?
Fredfloresjr on 11/07/2024 - 17:38
@MrMoo: I asked legit question as I want one, i have logitech from astro a50x, keyboard to mouse,
Then everyone just saying to save me from charging. I thought was really a joke, but seems not. Man how life changing is this for $99! We need more interest hikes lol.
swanny246 on 11/07/2024 - 20:57
@MrMoo: You move the mouse around, the cable moves around as a result, if you have other things on your desk, it can get in the way. It's just an irritation. If you have the cash to spare, why not? It's not a life changing must have by any means.
Fredfloresjr on 11/07/2024 - 17:21

@swanny246: Ahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaa
The mat is wireless? Ffs! Now I understand the “game-changer” thing, to save 1-2 secs ahahah

I put one of those magnetic USB -C doodads on my wireless mouse. Even easier to charge it every 3 months.
xcez on 11/07/2024 - 12:28
Yep, few years here too! The cloth is still intact, hasn't deteriorated when compared to other exxy mouse pads used over same duration

Wish they made one of these in the extended XXL sizes, with the Powerplay charging section just on the side where the mouse goes.
I prefer my mousepad to extend under the keyboard.TheContact on 11/07/2024 - 12:55
Shove it under the desk pad and cut some thin cork board for the rest of the pad.
Ghosteye on 11/07/2024 - 12:56
I've been trying to find a cork/layer that's of comparable thickness to the charging pad, to lay over a bigger (artisan) mousepad. However I've had no luck because there is always a bump between the cork and charging pad layer.
Wonder if anyone else had luck with this.
tencents on 11/07/2024 - 13:17
I have one and love that I never have to plug in to recharge. I only wish the mouse pad was bigger.
Diddz on 12/07/2024 - 00:08

JOZL on 11/07/2024 - 13:31
Nice online deal. It tempts me to buy a new mouse that works with tech like this. I still use an old G700s (inexplicably they still sell these mice “new” at a greatly inflated $500 on eBay - who knows how they get stock). But my old mouse eats through batteries like a hungry person chomping oven baked chips on Saturday. Maybe I only get about 20 hours of gaming on it before it needs a charge. I have seen marketing saying that more modern gaming mice get weeks or months on a charge?
jkim on 11/07/2024 - 13:48
+1
I have the g700s, g703 and g903… can never go back to the g700s. Charges last way too short and it's so heavy. 703 and 903 are way lighter and charges last weeks.
JOZL on 11/07/2024 - 13:58
Nice. Thanks for sharing your experience. Which do you prefer of the two new ones? Did you ever encounter the double click problems that people on reddit talk about?
jkim on 11/07/2024 - 14:01
+1
I haven't encountered any issues with all 3 mice. I prefer the 903, but it's really personal preference (shape is different and 903 has extra buttons on the right hand side). I also have the powerplay but it doesn't charge the mouse (charged it for the first few months then stopped charging, got logi to replace it, but same thing happened after a few months). Given each charge lasts 1 - 2 months, I basically use the powerplay as a desktop wireless receptor and plug it in for charging now. I see here other people's powerplay don't have such a short life, but you can see on reddit that there are many people who have similar experience to mine.
JOZL on 11/07/2024 - 14:03
@jkim: Awesome. Good write up. I’ll look into the two newer mice 👌 thanks

@JOZL My 903 got the double click problem within 12 months (replaced under warranty) Same thing with two other friends that had them.
Whilst the battery life is awesome I wouldn’t recommend them as the problem is quite common. Better off with one of the newer mice with hybrid switches.
JOZL on 11/07/2024 - 14:15
@Gracey: Thanks for sharing your experience with the 903. At the risk of sounding silly, erm, what are the models with the hybrid switches? I googled and found something called a G502-X … is that the model you mean? Or are there more?
Gracey on 11/07/2024 - 14:20
+1
@JOZL: I think the G502-X is the only Logitech model with them at the moment. You could try your luck with a 903 as its otherwise a fantastic mouse, and Logi Support will replace it if the switches break down. You can also solder in new switches if you're handy like that.
JOZL on 11/07/2024 - 14:42
@Gracey: Awesome thanks for the heads up about this model. Ah.. so it seems that the g502X comes in a >$100 wired model and a >$200 wireless “Plus” model.
I do quite like the ergonomic approach of the 502 vs the ambidextrous shape of the 903.
Gracey on 11/07/2024 - 15:18

@JOZL: @JOZL Yeah I had a wired G502 for a few years and loved the thumb rest. Will likely go with a G502X for my next mouse.
xenoic on 11/07/2024 - 13:31
I've got my Powerplay for over 5 years now and it's integrated to a large desk mat.
It's a game changer if you want a clean setup on the desk and never worry about charging the mouse
JOZL on 11/07/2024 - 13:43
Clever solution to match the mouse mat without a bump. Nice to see that the plans mention Aliexpress useful for this thickness of product that is hard to find elsewhere.
Ryansta on 11/07/2024 - 13:32
Mine doesnt keep the mouse charged anymore, the mouse indicates its being charged but the battery drains to the point where it needs to be plugged in.
jkim on 11/07/2024 - 14:06
Your powerplay might have the same fault as mine.
Mine comes up as charging in G HUB but doesn't actually charge at all.
I had Logitech replace it when it was in warranty.
Few months later, the replacement did the same thing.akoli on 11/07/2024 - 14:53
Yeah same lasted a few years though. White light comes on and the logo section gets warm, but no charging. Logitech tried to fob me off with a mouse and keyboard under warranty as they had no stock of the mat. In the end they paid me back the $200 I had paid for it. Been waiting for the chance to buy again. $100 works for me.

It'll be an instant buy once they release an RGB version.
jkim on 11/07/2024 - 14:06
??? it's already RGB…
AngoraFish on 11/07/2024 - 15:49
It is not, other than the little logo when the cable connects to the mouse pad.
The blue line around the edge, which is what would normally be meant by an RGB mouse pad, is just a highlight colour in the material, it is not LED and is not comparable to something like https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/corsair-mm700-rgb-extende…
jkim on 11/07/2024 - 15:58

the G is the only thing with lighting, and that's RGB.
The "blue line" is just the bottom of the matt showing in the photos. it's not lighting.AngoraFish on 11/07/2024 - 16:18
@jkim: Which is exactly what I said.
jkim on 11/07/2024 - 16:19
@AngoraFish: So all lighting on the pad are RGB = it's an RGB device. I dunno why you're saying it's not.
AngoraFish on 11/07/2024 - 16:20

@AngoraFish: You said "It'll be an instant buy once they release an RGB version."
I said "??? it's already RGB…"
You said "It is not, other than the little logo when the cable connects to the mouse pad."
I said "the G is the only thing with lighting, and that's RGB." … "So all lighting on the pad are RGB = it's an RGB device"So… where's this agreement? You: It's not an RGB device. Me: It is an RGB device.
What you might have wanted to say based on everything else you've said: "It'll be an instant buy once they release a LED bordered version.", because your initial statement of it not being an RGB device is just plain wrong.

Had one for years and worth every cent.
One thing I noticed is that the pad seems to interfere with certain device. When I place my monitor controller or Bluetooth mouse (logi M720) on the pad, their buttons start to click themselves.

The mousemat itself is way too small if you're coming from any XL/XXL mats.
Tempted to buy at this price and DIY it underneath my existing mousemat though.
Alzori on 11/07/2024 - 14:46
Would be keen but have a full desk pad (1.5m x 0.6m) so no way to use this without having an ugly hump in the middle of the desk :(
nelzen on 11/07/2024 - 20:00
I'm assuming it's not logistically viable; however, don't let its size sway you away. Search for 'Powerplay XXL', and you will find a few examples of people who have incorporated the mat into a large form factor. I have one myself, and it is worth the time and cost.
